Candles on the Cobb took place Sunday 28th August 2022. The spectacular and profoundly moving event sees thousands of candles light up the iconic Cobb harbour in memory of loved ones.

Founded by friends Phil Street and Mike Higgs, the Cobb was first covered with thousands of tea lights in 2000. Following their decision to stand down in 2015, running of the event was taken on by The Rotary Club of Lyme Regis.

Candles on the Cobb shines a light on those we have lost and its immense popularity draws huge crowds to the town with onlookers lining the seafront and viewing from Langmoor and Lister Gardens above.

Members of the public are invited to sponsor candles in memory of loved ones with over £140,000 raised for local groups and national charities since the event’s inception. For the 2022 event, 50% of proceeds will go to local youth projects, 25% to British Red Cross and 25% to Cancer Research UK.

In addition to lighting the Cobb, hundreds of candles were arranged on the sandy beach in the shape of a giant crown to commemorate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee.
